Housing

This program offers advocacy, resources, direct support, and arms reach assistance for persons with housing concerns and seeking affordable accommodations. In 2020, EASC supported approximately 150 people.

This project is funded in part by Alberta Social Housing Corporation and is designed to direct and assist people with housing concerns and their search for affordable accommodations. The housing coordinator will provide initial assessments of the person’s needs; provide general information on housing programs available and provide support for them to navigate the housing system.

Searches include anything from an apartment, house, duplex, condo, lodge, nursing home and wheelchair accessible housing, and sober living. Our Housing Coordinator compiles a complete up-to-date list of available housing in the Edmonton area. This is completed by contacting landlords, property managers, private homeowners, searching the internet and collaborating with other service providers.

After the initial assessment of needs, the registrar must complete a registration form and sign an agreement to report any changes in their application status. The registrar then is provided a listing of available rentals. The applicants are encouraged and supported in their search with follow-up phone calls and additional lists (if required) from the registrar.
